Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2024 Nominees!
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2024 nominees were announced recently, and it’s a pretty impressive list! This year’s list includes a diverse group of artists: Ozzy Osbourne, Mary J. Blige, Lenny Kravitz, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, Mariah Carey, Jane’s Addiction, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Sinéad O’Connor, Sade & Oasis.
The 15 incredibly talented and influential nominees for this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2024, have all made significant contributions to the world of music in their respective genres. Let’s take a deeper look at the nominees now!
OZZY OSBOURNE

Ozzy Osbourne, the “Prince of Darkness,” has been a huge influence on the world of rock and roll. As the lead vocalist of Black Sabbath and a successful solo artist, he’s sold over 100 million records worldwide and won three Grammy Awards. He’s known for his powerful voice and theatrical stage presence, with hits like “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley.”
MARY J. BLIGE

Mary J. Blige, the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul,”has made an incredible impact on the music industry, selling over 100 million records worldwide and winning nine Grammy Awards.
Her unique blend of R&B and hip hop has earned her a dedicated fanbase and widespread critical acclaim. Hits like “Family Affair” and “Real Love” have become classics of the genre.
LENNY KRAVITZ

Lenny Kravitz has had a fantastic career, blending rock, blues, and soul influences into his unique sound. With hit songs like “Are You Gonna Go My Way” and “Fly Away,” he’s definitely made his mark on the music world. And it’s not just the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that’s recognized his talent—he also just received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this month! It’s clear that Lenny Kravitz is highly respected by both fans and the industry alike.
FOREIGHNER

Foreigner has had a hugely successful career, with hits like “Hot Blooded,” “Cold as Ice,” and “I Want to Know What Love Is.” Despite dominating classic rock radio and selling millions of records, they’re the most played band on classic rock radio who isn’t in the Hall of Fame. It’s great to see them getting recognition for their contributions to rock music.
A TRIBE CALLED QUEST

A Tribe Called Quest: A pioneering hip-hop group from Queens, New York, consisting of members Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White. They’re known for their socially conscious lyrics, jazz-influenced production, and for creating several classic albums like “The Low End Theory” and “Midnight Marauders.”
MARIAH CAREY

Mariah Carey is a legendary American pop singer known for her remarkable vocal range and powerful voice. She has sold over 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling artists of all time. She has also won numerous awards and accolades throughout her career, including six Grammy Awards, and ten American Music Awards. Her debut album, released in 1990, was an instant hit and set the stage for a long and successful career.
JANE’S ADDICTION

Jane’s Addiction is an influential alternative rock band that emerged from the LA music scene in the 80s. Their unique blend of metal, punk, and psychedelic rock has made them a favorite among fans and critics alike. Songs like “Jane Says” and “Been Caught Stealing” are considered classics of the era, and the band has inspired countless other musicians over the years.
CHER

Cher, the Goddess of Pop, is a true icon with a career spanning six decades. She’s sold over 100 million records, and has won a Grammy Award. Cher rose to fame in the 1960s as part of the duo Sonny & Cher, alongside her then-husband Sonny Bono. DAVE MATHEWS BAND

The Dave Mathews Band is a beloved jam band that formed in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1991. Their blend of rock, jazz, and folk has earned them a dedicated fan base and widespread critical acclaim. Songs like “Crash Into Me” and “Ants Marching” have become classics of the genre, and their unique sound has influenced countless other musicians.
ERIC B. & RAKIM

Eric B. & Rakim: A legendary hip-hop duo from Long Island, New York. Eric B. is the DJ and Rakim is the MC. They’re widely regarded as one of the most influential and skilled hip-hop acts of all time, thanks to their innovative rhymes, complex lyricism, and beats. Their debut album, “Paid in Full,” is a landmark in the genre.
PETER FRAMPTON

Peter Frampton is an incredibly talented British guitarist and singer-songwriter. He rose to fame with his 1976 live album “Frampton Comes Alive!” which featured hit songs like “Show Me the Way” and “Baby, I Love Your Way.” Frampton has had a successful career spanning over five decades, and he’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including George Harrison and David Bowie.
KOOL & THE GANG

Kool & the Gang is an iconic American funk and R&B band formed in Jersey City in 1964, and they’ve had a long and successful career, with hit songs like “Celebration” and “Jungle Boogie.”
They’ve sold over 70 million records worldwide and have won two Grammy Awards.
SINÉAD O’CONNOR

She was a powerful and unique voice in the music world, known for her raw emotional performances and thought-provoking lyrics.
Sadly, Sinéad passed away in 2023, but her legacy lives on through her music. Hits like “Nothing Compares 2 U” and “The Emperor’s New Clothes” have had a lasting impact on the industry.
SADE

Sade is a British band fronted by lead singer Sade Adu. Sade rose to fame in the mid-1980s with their smooth, sophisticated blend of soul, jazz, and R&B. The band’s debut album, “Diamond Life,” was a critical and commercial success, and Sade’s soulful vocals and the band’s understated arrangements set them apart from their peers.
OASIS

Oasis is a British rock band formed in Manchester, England in 1991, Oasis was one of the most successful and influential acts of the Britpop era. The band, led by the Gallagher brothers (Liam on vocals and Noel on guitar), achieved massive commercial success with their debut album “Definitely Maybe” and follow-up “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” They were known for their catchy, anthemic songs.
That rounds out the list of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2024! These artists, have made significant contributions to the world of music in their respective genres. It’s a competitive class this year, and sadly, not all will make it in.
Fans can vote for their favorite nominees through the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Fan Vote! You can cast your vote every day online for up to 7 artist per day by visiting their voting site HERE until April 15th, 2024. The top five artists selected by the public will comprise a “fans’ ballot” that will be considered alongside the ballots of industry professionals and historians to determine the 2024 Inductees.
