Three Decades Strong: Vans Warped Tour 2026 Brings the Noise Back to Montréal, Canada 8/21-8/22

Last weekend, was the end of the Vans Warped Tour 2026 in Montréal. This festival was characterized by two days of pure Rock’n’roll energy. The Parc Jean Drapeau welcomed a big crowd of headbangers so that they could see their favorite bands perform on stage.

The diversified lineup was split across four stages over the weekend of August 21st and 22nd. Some names and headliners are known to be huge performers and brought a wave of nostalgia to the fest as per Jimmy Eat World or All Time Low. Among all of those names, I discovered really good bands that I’ll keep an eye on.

As to respect the tradition of the festival, the lineup was revealed each morning, maintaining suspense until the very last minute.

The Paradox opened the festivities on DAY 1, with an energetic set on one of the two main stages. Escape the Fate, Silverstein, Boston Manor or even Sleep Theory, all through the day, bands performed one after the other, energizing the crowd. The Paget stage welcomed local artists such as Basterds and The Anti-Queens.

Then, it was time for All Time Low to set the stage on fire. They invited LØLØ to sing their famous song “PMA.” The set ended up with “Dear Maria Count Me In,” their biggest tune, getting the public crazy. A Day To Remember closed the day with an incredible set, bringing giant beach balls and pyrotechnics. They had the crowd roaring until their very last song, “All Signs Point to Lauderdale.”

On DAY 2, Sunami and The Good Sleepy were the ones performing first. Many bands like 30H!3, Four Years Strong, Sudden Waves, Of Mice and Men, Jimmy Eat World and The Devil Wears Prada were pumping up the crowd throughout the day. A personal favorite of mine definitely was the eventful set of Ice Nine Kills. As always, they brought actors and accessories to complete the horror storytelling that defines their band and the public was wildly moshing and crowdsurfing.

The sun began to set when the American band Yellowcard stepped on stage. The crowd sang every song along until the last one of the setlist, “Ocean Avenue.” To finish on an excellent note, Simple Plan was the last band doing their magic for the weekend. Coming from Montreal itself, the artists felt at home on the Vans Warped Tour main stage on this Saturday night. Famous hits after another, Simple Plan really rocked the fest ! The french canadian crowd was purely delightful and proud of the now worldwide band performing in front of their eyes.

The Vans Warped Tour festival is more than just listening to heavy music and crowd surfing ! The mix of Vans and metal communities in the crowd brought up a positive, festive, and respectful ambiance to the event. BMX and skaters had the chance to ride a half-pipe just across the two main stages, the famous Steve Caballero blending in with the riders. They were doing tricks in the sunlight while some others were moshing and running in giant circle pits. The Vans Warped Tour had not taken place in Montreal since 2014 before its return in August 2026 so I think this iconic weekend will be remembered by the Canadian public for a really long time.
