It was the film’s industry highest honors night, but it was the musical performances that stole the show! From Sting, to Justin Timberlake, to John Legend, here is a review of their musical performances!
Music has always played a very special part in film for as long as we can remember. Even in silent films, way before there were any speaking roles, music always made a presence. So of course a night dedicated to the film industry would include musical performances.
The stage at the Oscars had some very magical moments last night. The performers made us dance, and they made us cry. The power of music was in full display. Here are the musical performances from last nights Oscar Awards.
Sting put on a very moving performance of The Empty Chair from the movie Jim: The James Foley Story. Check out the performance here.
A funny introduction by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson led to awesome performance by Lin-Manuel Miranda. He opened with a little rap medley before 16 year Auli’l Cravahlo took the stage to sing How Far I’ll Go from the movie Mona. See the performance here.
John Legend had a big moment at the Orcars as he performed two songs, both which were up for an award; City of Stars and Audition. Both songs are from the nominated film La La Land. Watch John Legend’s performance here.
