The Teskey Brothers with opener Trousdale put on a sold out show in Brooklyn, NY filled with intimate jams, soulful harmony, and a room full of love. As the doors opened and fans streamed into the historic venue, there was a palpable sense of anticipation. The newly reopened Brooklyn Paramount, known for its stunning architecture and excellent acoustics, provided the perfect backdrop for the show’s unique blend of folk-inspired music and Australian blues rock.
The night kicked off with Trousdale, a powerful female trio from Los Angeles. Their drummer and rhythm guitarist took the stage first, setting the tone for a magical set. Soon came out members Quinn D’Andrea, Georgia Greene, and Lauren Jones to showcase their perfect harmony on stage. There was not a bad note in sight — these girls have nailed the blending of their voices together to truly put together something beautiful. The song that brought the crowd dancing and clapping was “If I’m Honest“, where the song concludes with the repeated line “If I’m honest, I’ve been thinkin’ about you, thinkin’ about you”.
If the crowd wasn’t wow’d enough, Trousdale threw in the perfect cover into their set — Fleetwood Mac‘s “The Chain“. The excitement this drew was like no other, and you could tell the entire room enjoyed every note of it. If there’s anyone allowed to cover this masterpiece of a song, it’s Trousdale.
The trio closed out their set with the 1st original song they all produced together, “Wouldn’t Come Back“, followed by their new album titled track, “Out Of My Mind“. Overall, it was nice to see a female trio with stage equality. Each member got a turn with starting off songs and even having solos. You can really tell they enjoyed each moment on stage and appreciate everyone’s support.
After perfectly setting the tone for an exciting night ahead, The Teskey Brothers took the stage. The lights dimmed as “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free” by Nina Simone played, growing the crowd’s anticipation.
Aside from Josh & Sam Teskey, the two were joined by a drummer, bassist, keyboardist, as well as a saxophone player & a trumpet player. Josh is the main voice behind the band, while Sam compliments him with an outstanding guitar presence and soft harmony. They opened the show with “Pain and Misery” from their Half Mile Harvest album.
For a majority of the show, all members stayed in 1 place on the stage, but there were definitely some intimate moments that were noticed. About halfway through the set, TTB played “I Get Up” as Josh came down stage and kneeled down, taking a break from his guitar and singing closely to the crowd. This little act created a true connection with the audience and had them soak in every moment of the song.
As some members cleared the stage for “Carry Me Home“, an intimate trio with their keyboardist came alive as the stage lights turned psychedelic. Everyone came back on stage for “Blind Without You“, which had an amazing mixture of harmonies and brass solos. Lastly, the end to their main set was “What Will Be” which was filled with an unbelievable jam session. Josh even brought out his harmonica which added some spice to the set.
Lastly, The Teskey Brothers started their 4 song encore with an amazing cover of “Try A Little Tenderness” and ended with a crowd sing along, “Hold Me“. You can tell that all of the musicians on stage were truly grateful for the hard work they put into this show and how rewarding it has been. Here’s hoping they grace Brooklyn with their presence again soon, as their music undoubtedly resonates deeply with all who had the privilege to hear it live.
