The music video for “The Algorithm” was created in collaboration with Piotr Kowalski, an artist known for his work on “The Witcher” and “Bloodborne” comics, Brad Simpson, with animation from Tony Celano. The video was released under Sumerian Records for the soundtrack and Sumerian Comics from the American Psycho comic book series.
The comic series explores a dual storyline format, one tracing the chilling exploits of Patrick Bateman, and the other introducing a contemporary narrative featuring Charlene Carruthers, a social media-savvy millennial whose descent into violence mirrors the chilling escalation of her predecessor.
This is what Matt Mitchell (Co-writer/guitarist of Puscifer) had to say about the writing process of the song –
“Our approach to writing ‘The Algorithm’ was not to delicately peel back the layers of the onion, but instead, take an axe to it.”
It seems like Puscifer is tackling some pretty heavy topics with this new track, exploring the dark side of social media and its impact on contemporary society.
