Hailing from Kentucky, metalcore band Knocked Loose has released their highly anticipated new album, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To. The album title actually comes from a woman that Bryan Garris (vocalist) met on a plane. After a rocky airplane takeoff, the woman next to him had said “You won’t go before you’re supposed to” which stuck with Garris so deeply due to his fears of flying. Clocking in at only twenty eight minutes, the album is so intricately planned out, each song seamlessly bleeds together and packs a tough punch.
‘Suffocate’ was one of the singles for the album which features singer Poppy. While there was discourse when the tracklist came out about this song because Poppy is featured on the track, once people actually heard the song their minds were changed drastically. Poppy proves all the haters wrong with her impeccable vocals. The song also garnered a lot of attention because of the sick reggaeton beat in the breakdown.
The second feature on the album also broke the internet. Chris Motionless, vocalist for metalcore band Motionless in White, returned to make ‘Slaughterhouse 2’. Garris is featured on ‘Slaughterhouse’ which is on Motionless in Whites’ latest album Scoring the End of the World. Both bands actually toured together last year and when Garris reached out to do ‘Slaughterhouse 2’, Chris was on board immediately. Fans could not wait to hear this track and they surely did not disappoint.
For once metalcore fans were quick to come to a consensus that You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To is the metalcore album of the year. I couldn’t agree more. This album is a 10/10 all across the board, from badass breakdowns, insane production, piercing and powerful vocals, it’s easily the band’s best album. The attention to detail is admirable, every bit is so well thought out and was pieced together flawlessly.
Knocked Loose is surging to the top and will be headlining a tour for the first half of the summer and then will be joining Slipknot on their tour to close out the concert season.
