I Got A Bad Feeling About This Tour at Worcester Palladium – 3/9/18
▣Palladium | Worcester, MA ▣Saturday, March 9th 2018
Mac Sabbath and Empire Galactic brought their ‘I Got A Bad Feeling About This’ tour Friday night, March 9th, to the Worcester Palladium with opening acts Lame Genie and Local band, Carnivora. Although the night had its ups and downs, it would end on a high note.
The force was strong at the Worcester Palladium during the ‘I Got A Bad Feeling About This Tour’. The tour made a stop in Massachusetts, bringing a couple of unusual music acts to the Palladium. An evil Ronald McDonald singing remakes of Black Sabbath, Darth Vader, and his Storm Troopers. Along with a band that played songs of famous games from the 80’s – all served as the night’s entertainment. To start things off, local band Carnivora took the stage. It was my first time seeing them live and although unfamiliar with their music, they immediately grew on me. Their heavy sound matched well with their lead singer’s vocals – it was fast and furious. Their performance was the perfect way to kick things off, and I personally can’t wait to catch them again in the near future.
The music game cover band Lame Genie, out of Providence, Rhode Island took the stage next. The themes from Castlevania, Pac-Man, The Legend of Zelda, are some of the songs the band covered during their 45-minute set. Although listening to a couple songs was cool, the rest of their set to me was well, kind of lame. And I have a feeling I wasn’t the only one who felt that way. With the exception of three guys in the front who headbanger throughout their entire set, most of the crowd had an indifferent look on their face. I personally couldn’t wait for it to be over.
The force was definitely strong with the next band, and they got a nice welcome here in Worcester, as Darth Vader and his band consisting of Kyle Ren , Red Guard, Bass Commander and Boba Sett on drums, entered the stage. Galactic Empire is a Star Wars inspired band that plays music from the movie saga. The Star Wars Theme, The Imperial March, are just a couple of the songs they performed during their killer set. For any Star Wars fan, this is a dream come true. The guys from Galactic Empire are all very talented musicians. Not only was the music awesome, they had really funny skits in between their songs, with a cool light show to match. Star Wars fan or not, their show is definitely worth checking out. I personally hope to catch them again. Maybe next time with my kids. Check out some of the video highlights!
A red and yellow stripe curtain went up as they set the stage for Mac Sabbath. Now, if you are not familiar with these guys, they are one of the most unusual acts at the moment. They are a Black Sabbath cover band that takes on a fun twist with their music. With fast food lyrics and McDonalds character costumes, they deliver a fun and entertaining show. Their lead singer goes by the name Ronald Osbourne, and dresses like an evil Ronald McDonald. The guy with the big cheeseburger on his head on guitar goes by Slayer MacCheeze, the purple giant gumdrop on bass is Grimalice, and on drums, they have the Catburglar, also known as Peter Criss Cut Fries because of the way he paints his face. They were charismatic and extremely entertaining to watch. Although they had a slow start, by the end of the show when Osbourne crowd surfed, they had won me over with their performance. This show had so much force, and because of some small details it wasn’t perfect, but it sure was entertaining! New England metal fans are not going to want to miss Carnivora. It was my first time seeing them, but as I said, it won’t be my last. If you are a Star Wars fan, or even if you are not, you are not going to want to miss Galactic Empire. They provided a very entertaining set that is worth catching the next time they are playing near you. And, Black Sabbath fans, McDonald’s fans, fans of all eclectic and crazy things-Mac Sabbath is the show for you. The charismatic Osbourne and his talented group of musicians, entertained us, made us all laugh, and by the end of the show had stolen our hearts. Their memorable performance is definitely worth catching at least once.
