Foreigner brought their magic to Boston on their 40th Anniversary Tour!
▣Blue Hills Pavilion | Boston, MA ▣Friday, July 17th 2017
80’s rockers, Foreigner, brought their 40th Anniversary tour to the Blue Hills Pavilion Boston, along with Cheap Trick and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience. It was a night of pure magic!
It was perfect weather in Boston as the crowd waited in line to get into the pavilion for the concert. Beers were getting poured and all of the attendees seemed to be in a great mood. First to take the stage and open was Jason Bonham, with a much anticipated return since his last show in November here in Boston. The prodigy of the late John Bonham, Jason has made a name for himself not only as an amazing drummer but for also carrying his dad’s legacy with the Led Zeppelin Experience.
Jason, living up to his dad’s name, put on an incredible performance. His 10 song set list from the mighty Led Zeppelin included songs like Ramble On, Whole Lotta Love and Rock and Roll to name a few. Check out the video highlights from their performance.
Veterans Cheap Trick were next to hit the stage. The newly Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees have toured nonstop for decades and this tour with Foreigner would be no different. Their pre-opener set included a couple of covers, California Man from The Move and I’m Waiting for the Man, by the Velvet Underground. Of course, they wouldn’t leave out their favorites and would close the night with their most popular, I Want You to Want Me, Dream Police and Surrender. Cheap Trick would have their moments of magic during their 90-minute set, but for the most part, other than Rick Nielsen who was just so captivating to watch, I personally found their set a bit flat. Now, it was Foreigner’s turn to hit the stage and close the show. A great crowd was anticipating their start and loud cheers erupted when the band walked out on the stage. Kelly Hansen (vocals) went to work immediately and started their set with Double Vision. This is their 40th Anniversary tour, and they held nothing back, playing most of their hits from their 40-year career. Midway during their set, they allowed the audience to choose what song they would play next by cheering. The crowd in Boston chose Blue Morning, Blue Day out the three song choices given, which was a great addition to the set list already in place.
Other hits from tonight’s set list included Feels Like the First Time, Urgent and Juke Box Hero. The leader and co-founder Mick Jones (guitar) looked in great spirits and was all smiles. Each member of Foreigner is an amazing musician and together they sound phenomenal. This is the reason why they are one of the best selling bands of all time. They closed the show with I Want to Know What Love Is and Hot Blooded– making this another magical night at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion. Check out the video highlights from their performance.
