Bring Me The Horizon – Post Human: Nex Gen
Bring Me The Horizon | Sony/RCA | 5/24 | 9.5/10

If there’s one thing Bring Me The Horizon knows how to do, it’s write a banger record. Although the release for Post Human: Next Gen was delayed eight months, the album is truly one of their best. All 16 tracks were placed so intricately and flow so smoothly to the next. With features like AURORA, Underoath, and Lil Uzi Vert, and sick album art, creativity and attention to detail is admirable. Bring Me The Horizon has created an alternate universe with their music and has brought it to life.
While 5 of the tracks are singles, there is still plenty of new music. ‘Kool-Aid’ which was the last single before the album came out and is a fan favorite. The single was also the first look at Bring Me The Horizon without former keyboardist Jordan Fish. The song offers a taste of the original BMTH sound.
Something lead singer Oli Sykes has been very open about are his struggles with addiction and mental health. ‘n/A’ has an intro that mimics an AA meeting and holds a somber vibe. For the chorus things pick up with Sykes screaming “So maybe I should drop dead / Eat shit / Go to hell / I could jump head first out the window / Dark thoughts keep filling my mind”. Sykes has written several songs about struggles of mental health and those seem to be the fans favorite songs with how relatable and real they are.
Haters complain that Bring Me The Horizon has “gone soft”, however Post Human: Next Gen proves them wrong. While their sound has evolved over the years, the new album still houses some of their original sound. The attention to detail is immaculate and not many artists nowadays take the time to tie everything together so seamlessly. Bring Me The Horizon is back and better than ever.
