Taking the stage at Van Andel Arena, one of Michigan’s most favorite venues was The Lumineers. The Lumineers are touring their newest album BRIGHTSIDE. The Brightside tour is heading all over from the east coast to the west coast, hitting almost every continent, and of course, making its way over to Grand Rapids Michigan.
This was a concert I was really excited about and it did not disappoint. The Lumineers led by their lead singer Wesley Schultz and multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah Fraites know how to put on a great show. From the lights to the sound, the setlist, and crowd interactions everything had so much thought put into it.
To start the show The Lumineers invited up-and-coming artist Ashe to open for them. Ashe is a fun and young artist who knew how to get a crowd excited and was the perfect opener for the night. I am positive after her performance she has gained many new fans.
One thing that stood out to me was how generational The Lumineers truly are. In one pit I watched as grandmas danced with their grandchildren, Parents laughed with their kids, twenty-year-olds held their first love in their arms, and high school students were embracing their first concert. There wasn’t one kind of fan, everyone was there having the time of their life.
The stage setup was extremely fun with two walkways meeting in the middle of the pit. This made crowd interaction happen so easily and felt so much more intimate. Wesley Schultz even at one point jumped into the crowd. It was so much fun.
The crowd and the band really did have the best night ever. It even ended with a confetti party.
There are still plenty of stops left on the Brightside tour, I highly recommend finding a city near you. This won’t be my last Lumineers concert and I hope you get to see them too.
