Smallpools was the opener at the Happy Again Tour. While their set was short, they quickly grabbed the audience’s attention by covering the well-known song, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears. While singing their song “Killer Whales” they threw an inflatable killer whale into the audience after telling a story of the meaning of their band name, Smallpools. Through their set, you felt connected to a band that you might not have known otherwise. Their charismatic performances left the audience overly excited for Judah and the Lion to perform.
Judah and the Lion was the main act of the night. The excitement leading up to their set was contagious. Their set included new and old hits that the audience was eager to sing along to. Judah led the charge as he sang “Over My Head” one of their well-known songs released in 2019. They also played songs from their new album “Revival” which was released this Summer. Their new album includes songs about Judah’s Grandfather, “Blue eyes” and “Take a Walk.” Their interaction with the audience included bringing out Smallpools while covering songs such as Lil Wayne’s “Snap Yo Fingers” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Since You’ve Been Gone.” Their connection with their audience left people throughout the venue in tears as they danced to the songs they loved. The men of Judah and the Lion owned the stage as they toured together for the first time in three years. Overall, Judah and the Lion put on an excellent performance at the Van Buren in Phoenix, Arizona.
