Friko brought their show to Houston on Thursday at White Oak Music Hall and created an unforgettable night for everyone lucky enough to attend. The show opened with the supporting act, Villagerrr, whose mellow, dreamlike sound lulled everyone into a trance. It was a beautiful set and a great start to the night, leading into the performance that followed.

After Villagerrr, Friko took the stage. They also delivered an unforgettable performance with their energy, their talent, and the way they interacted with the fans. This was the first show I’ve been to where you could have conversations with the artist from the crowd, which was a very cool experience. If you’re familiar with White Oak Music Hall, the show was upstairs, which is one of the three sections of the venue. Since the upstairs section is smaller, the show felt very intimate, and it made the interactions between the band and the crowd feel even more personal. It felt like there was barely any distance between the band and everyone watching them, which made it easier to feel connected to the performance.

The energy onstage was electric, with every band member moving around as much as they could while playing. Friko’s energy infected everyone in the room, which made the show feel perfect. Because the section was so small, it felt like the energy was bouncing off the walls. As I looked around the room, I could see that everyone felt the same. Every person in the crowd looked like they were having the time of their lives, whether they were singing along, dancing, or just enjoying the performance. There was never really a moment where the crowd felt quiet or disconnected from what was happening onstage. Everyone seemed completely locked into the show, and that made the atmosphere even better.

Most of the songs played were from Friko’s most recent album, “Something Worth Waiting For,” with some extra songs from “Where we’ve been, Where we go from here.” While there were a couple of songs I was hoping for that weren’t performed, it was still a fantastic setlist that I can’t stop thinking about. Hearing these songs live in such a small venue made the experience even better, and the energy from the crowd made the performance feel even more special. Some songs felt completely different live because of how much energy the band brought to them. It was one of those shows where even if a song wasn’t one of my personal favorites, I still found myself enjoying it because of the way they performed it.

At the end of the show, guitarist Korgan Robb gave me one of the setlists, and I met frontman Niko Kapetan at the merch table. Both moments made my night and gave me something to remember the show. Getting to meet Niko and leave with a setlist from the show made an already great night even more memorable. It was the perfect way to end the night after such an incredible performance, and definitely something I’ll remember for a long time. Those are the kinds of moments that make going to live shows so worth it.

Friko is continuing their tour through the U.S., while also making stops in Mexico and Canada. If they’re coming to a city near you and you’re looking for a good time, treat yourself to a ticket! You won’t regret it.
