Thrice at House of Blues Boston – 11/26/17

▣House of Blues | Boston, MA                               ▣Sunday, November 26th 2017

American rock group, Thrice, were back in Boston co-headlining their Fall tour with Circa Survive. After opening for Deftones and Rise Against this Summer, their fans flocked to Boston for their co-headlining tour.

A long line formed outside on a cold night in Boston at the House of Blues for the Thrice/Circa Survive Fall 2017 tour. The tour showcased openers Chon, and Balance and Composure as special guests, kicking off a night packed with great music. I was there to cover Thrice’s performance, sadly I missed them last summer and I wanted to make sure I caught them on this run.

Incense filled the air and just shortly before 8:30 pm the band took the stage. Dustin Kensrue (lead singer, guitarist) was the first to enter the stage as he waved to the crowd. Close behind,  Teppei Teranishi (lead guitar, keyboard, vocals), Riley Breckenridge (drums) and last was Eddie Breckenridge (bass, vocals).  They immediately went to work and opened with The Earth Will Shake, The Window and with the fan favorite from their 2003 self titled album, The Artist in the Ambulance. Their opening was strong and it was a perfect start to tonight’s set.

Their 15 song set had a little bit of everything from all of their nine releases. The crowd was moving and crowd surfing to songs like Firebreather, Silhoutte, and Deadbolt. The band had us mesmerized with beautiful renditions of Open Water, Broken Lungs, and Come All You Weary. I personally enjoyed listening to live versions of songs from the current album, To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere. Here is video coverage of two fan favorites from that album, Hurricane and Black Honey.

Thrice put on an amazing performance for their Boston fans. A career that spans close to 20 years together as a band, they have never sounded better. Their comfort as artists have made them veterans in their field, and they show no signs of slowing down any time soon. I’m looking forward to their next one!
